Domaine Lathuilière-Gravallon
Family roots: Since 1875 Wine has been an integral part of our family’s history.
Today, Cathy and Cédric Lathuilière have taken up the torch.
We are respectful of the know-how handed down by our ancestors over many years, remain close to
our terroir and try to satisfy Mother Nature, by crafting fruity wines with a perfect balance between
tradition and modernity.
Morgon Vieilles Vignes
Vineyard: It is a collection of old vines that are
up to 100 years old. They are exposed
to the South.
Terroir: light granitic
Grape variety: 100% Gamay.
Planting density: 10 000 vines / ha
Average vine age: 90 years old
Average yield: 35 hl/ha
Vinification: We harvest the grapes by hand,
carefully sorting them as they are picked, only
keeping the very best. The vinification technique
is the traditional Beaujolais semi-carbonic. 10 to 12 days on skin with temperature control.
Maturation: The wine is put into barrels that
have already held 7‐8 wines and into a larg wooden vat (foudre) for about 18 months. The wine is
then bottled without being filtered.
Style: From its dark ruby robe come very
pronounced aromas of red fruit with a lightly
wooded note at the end that doesn’t mask the
fruitiness of this Morgon. This robust wine
becomes refined on ageing, giving hints of Pinot
Noir, this is when the wine is said to
"Morgonne".
Cellaring: This wine can be kept up to 10‐12
years, depending on the vintage, but it reaches
its peak between 3 and 8 years.
